学校位于美国明尼苏达州的南部城市曼卡托(Mankato), 城市人口仅有5万，但是这里却有包括明尼苏达州立大学在内的四所大学， 其他三所分别是South Central College, Bethany Luthern College 以及Rasmussen College。是一座迷你的大学城，是媒体评选的全美50大大学城之一。同时更是在577座美国中小城市的生活多样化的排名中高居17位
学校信息
明尼苏达州立大学曼卡托分校建校于1868年，最初名为曼卡托师范大学，于1999年更名于明尼苏达州立大学曼卡托分校。现在本科生13，547人，硕士与博士生1716人。
在全校接近200个专业中，其中商务心理学，戏剧与表演艺术学以及创意写作是学校的三个最具名声的专业。其中商务心理学与戏剧与表演艺术学从本科到研究生教学均排名全美同专业TOP 50， 创意写作排名全美第90， 但是却被媒体评为全美20大最被低估的项目之一。
明尼苏达州立大学曼卡托的戏剧与表演艺术学院(Department of Theatre and Dance)在全美都享有很高的评价， 每年会有至少10场专业级别的演出，其中不乏许多经典剧目，如《歌剧魅音》，《音乐之声》，《芝加哥》， 其中戏剧与表演艺术学院更是在KCACTF(肯尼迪戏剧节)中获得过全国冠军，而被邀请至肯尼迪艺术中心进行表演。同时戏剧与表演艺术学院也是全美仅有的 8所提供音乐剧专业学位的机构之一。
